Volunteer
Moving Parts Arts is a small organisation trying to do big things. As a charity with limited resources we rely on volunteers to make the festival and our other community activities a reality. In exchange we can offer a unique experience like no other and welcome you into the Moving Parts family.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY WITH MOVING PARTS ARTS!
We are recruiting for volunteers to help welcome visitors to two unique, colourful arts experiences
this coming Easter Holidays!
Moving Parts Arts (producers of Newcastle Puppetry Festival) will be presenting Wind Garden and
The Last Believer on the lawn of the Great North Museum: Hancock between 4th-12th April
2026.
Wind Garden is a community installation of windmills created by 250 local residents and artists.
The tunnel-like structure will feature moving colourful windmills on the outside, and participants'
stories on the interior. The installation intends to explore and celebrate wind power, local stories,
and community creativity. There will also be a professional kinetic sculpture commission made by
local artist Chloe Rodham.
The Last Believer is an outdoor theatre show for all the family, which is performed using a
specially crafted ‘giant crankie’. The crankie is a unique two-meter high moving panorama, which
will tell the fantastical tale of Mae, who is on a quest to save Tyneside. Will Mae destroy the
mysterious Hexham Heads in time to restore balance between the human and fairy worlds? This
interactive performance will have live original music, puppetry, and storytelling – a bold, colourful
and fun adventure story for the whole family!
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help welcome audiences, steward the performances
and installation, and help facilitate simple craft activities.
Volunteers will gain customer service experience, exhibition stewarding experience, and activity
facilitation experience. Volunteers will be given £12 in cash for expenses, and we can provide a
reference letter on request.
Come and help us keep visual art and theatre alive and free to access in Newcastle! Be part of a
friendly and creative community! Meet new friends! Gain new skills! Have a nice time!
